Associate Director – Workforce
NHS North West
Rachael Charlton was appointed as Associate Director, Workforce Strategy of NHS North West in May 2009.
Previous posts include Deputy Director, Workforce Availability at the Department of Health; Director, National Workforce Projects Team; and Director of Workforce, Greater Manchester Workforce Development Confederation.
As Director of the National Workforce Projects team, Rachael commissioned the 1st ever post-graduate programme in strategic workforce planning and established www.healthcareworkforce.nhs.uk, as a portal for sharing national and local workforce intelligence. Whilst at the Department of Health, Rachael led the workforce contribution to World Class Commissioning through the development of an evidence base which articulated the case for change.
In the North West, Rachael’s current work interests include workforce productivity & benchmarking, workforce modernisation and health & work.
