Peter Griffiths
Peter Griffiths has been director of the National Nursing Research Unit at King’s College London since 2006.
The unit is funded by the Department of Health’s policy research programme to undertake research that informs policy related to the nursing workforce.
The current programme of work explores issues of workforce effectiveness using routinely collected data. This work has included a recent report on “State of the Art” nursing metrics commissioned to inform the chief nursing officer’s contribution to the Next Stage Review of the NHS.
Prior to taking up this post he was head of graduate studies for taught programmes in the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery at Kings’ College London where he also led the interdisciplinary MSc programme in Advanced Practice and devised and taught the popular interdisciplinary master’s course in Evidence-Based Decision Making.
He has worked in clinical, practice development and research capacities within the NHS and was involved in developing and evaluating nurse-led intermediate care services linked to two London based NHS trusts.
He is executive editor of the International Journal of Nursing Studies.
